Joseph “Jamie” Raevis, M.D., is a retina specialist at Monmouth Retina, serving patients in Little Silver, NJ.
Dr. Raevis graduated with the highest distinction of summa cum laude from The College of New Jersey. He then attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he earned his medical degree. Dr. Raevis completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an ophthalmic residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate, where he served as Chief Resident.
Throughout his training, Dr. Raevis has acquired a diverse set of surgical skills including: vitrectomy, scleral buckle element, pneumatic retinopexy, subretinal injection, macular hole repair, internal limiting membrane flap, secondary intraocular lens placement (MTA, CT Lucia, AO60, enVista) and repositioning (Yamane, lasso, McCannel techniques & exchange), iridoplasty with Siepser sliding knot, intraocular foreign body removal, ruptured globe repair, cataract extraction (phacoemulsification & pars plana lensectomy), endoscopic cyclophotocoagulation, endoscopic vitrectomy, choroidal drainage and radioactive plaque placement/removal for melanoma.
Dr. Raevis joined Monmouth Retina from the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, where he previously served as the Director of Vitreoretinal surgery and a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. He has also lectured at various academic institutions including: Massachusetts Eye and Ear/Harvard Ophthalmology, the Joslin Diabetes Center, the University of Wisconsin, and State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical School.
Dr. Raevis enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include hiking, camping, rock climbing, canoeing, and astronomy.
